These black rods by Flix are thicker and more rigid than average rods, which is why they're perfect for heavier music styles like pop and rock. You can adjust the attack by sliding the ring up or down—for a lighter attack, broaden the dowels by sliding it towards the handle. Take note, these rods don't sound the way they're meant to straight out of the box. They need to be played for about half an hour to break the hard lacquer layer off the dowels. After that, they'll sound the way Scottish manufacturer Flix intended them to.
